Katy Johnstone
Katy is a dedicated yogi, embodiment, and massage facilitator with over 12 years of experience in holding space. She is deeply interested in studying the nature of consciousness through the lenses of Tantra Shaivism, Buddhism, Traditional Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Krama Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Meditation. Her journey honors the Krishnamacharya and Kashmir Shaivism lineages. She has completed over 1,000 hours of study with master yoga and embodiment trainers, including Rod Stryker, Sally Kempton, Janet Stone, Octavio Salvador, Shiva Rea, Nicole Walsh, Michaela Boehm, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, and Persia Juliet.
While all of this knowledge gathering has been profoundly enriching, Katy believes that nothing compares to the power of experiential embodiment. From this place, she passionately holds space for moving meditation sessions that invite simplicity, self-inquiry, and exploration beyond the physical body.
Her classes, retreats and workshops blend discovering space, freedom of expression, and letting go, to leave you embodied, empowered, and whole. Katy views these practices as gateways to presence, encouraging you to slow down your breath and find the space between thoughts.
As the founder of the Roots Women's Embodiment Festival, she is dedicated to the goddess and the liberated expression of the feminine. She currently teaches in-person classes as a Senior Yoga Teacher and Community/Training Manager at Modern Movement in Northern Beaches, NSW, Australia. Her massage practice is currently based in Newport, NSW.
Katys mission is to support others in their expansion and expression, and she sincerely hopes to walk beside you on this path.
